Gabriel’s most recent exhibition was held in Can Tixedo Art Cafe in the island of Ibiza. He presented a series of paintings under the title of ‘Roots to Branches and other drawings’, including a number in honor of English poet Ted Hughes, as an advance to the book the artist is preparing on the work of Hughes. These works have included ink and charcoal on paper in various sizes, some reaching up to 1.60 cm. Also the artist explores from an original and visceral view some of his favorite myths, like the myth of Icarus, a recurring myth in his work. For the opening, saxophonist player Ivan M played an improvisation with saxophone on the painting titled ‘Song of Myself’, a powerful work that shows the intensity and concentration of some kind of hawk staring straight ahead.!
